The Tie Died Chef
About This Spot
Pulling up to The Tie Died Chef feels like stepping into a laid-back corner of Eugene where food is crafted with pride, personality, and a splash of color—both on the chef’s shirt and the plate. This isn’t just another food truck experience; it’s a pause from the everyday where the hum of city life fades into easy conversation and the simple pleasure of satisfying, thoughtful fare.
The atmosphere here is unhurried and welcoming, the kind of place where the line of eager customers quickly turns into a cluster of familiar faces chatting alongside Lonnie, the owner and heart behind the truck. His easygoing presence and hands-on approach add a genuine warmth that blankets the space, inviting passersby to slow down and savor their moment.
Food here is honest and comforting, carrying the spirit of American classics but never feeling routine. Whether it’s the steady rhythm of a freshly brewed espresso or the layered harmony of a Reuben sandwich—smoky, melty, and perfectly crusted—the experience is made personal. You can almost see the care in every stroke as Lonnie brines and smokes the pastrami right out front, or hear the attentive questions asked while assembling a sandwich tailored just for you. The menu invites you to explore familiar favorites like a buttery, rich Biscuits and Sausage Gravy or something unexpectedly fun like their Butter Beer Latte, each bite and sip brimming with flavor but never rushed or overdone.
This spot thrives on human moments – the smiles that come with a well-earned lunchtime treat, the satisfaction of finding a new favorite sandwich while passing through town, or simply the comfort of knowing that every ingredient and interaction is handled by someone who cares deeply. For those wandering Eugene’s streets in search of a genuine connection to food and local spirit, The Tie Died Chef offers a small but vibrant refuge—colorful, flavorful, and quietly memorable.

We were traveling through Eugene, and found this food truck on- line. My wife loves pulled-pork, and has ordered pulled-pork through out the country, including North Carolina. She said it was the best pulled-pork that she has ever eaten. The pork was not too fatty, and the flavor of the BBQ sauce didn't overpower the flavor of the meat. The sandwich was topped with a fabulous slaw. I had a bacon cheeseburger that was equally delicious. The chef is very engaging, which further adds to the overall experience.

I just had the best Reuben sandwich I’ve ever eaten at The Tie Dyed Chef. Perfectly toasted bread, tender corned beef, melty cheese, and tangy sauerkraut all came together in absolute perfection. The flavor was spot on and it was made with obvious care. On top of the food being outstanding, the atmosphere is welcoming and laid-back, and Lonnie, the owner, makes the experience even better. He’s incredibly friendly and takes the time to make you feel right at home. You can tell he genuinely cares about both his food and his customers. If you’re in the area, do yourself a favor and stop by The Tie Dyed Chef. You’ll leave full, happy, and already planning your next visit.

I ordered a turkey cold sandwich and it was PHENOMENAL! he asked me questions through the window while he made it to make sure it was exactly what i wanted! if i looked up "best sandwich ever" in the dictionary, a photo of this sandwhich would pop up. A must for your lunch break!

The name definitely delivered on expectations. The chef was indeed wearing tie dye. Cool guy that cares about his food. The turkey sandwich I had was awesome. Tons of meat and mayonnaise, just like I like. This was my first food experience in Eugene and it did not disappoint. Highly recommend you check this place out!

Lonnie the owner serves a delicious Ruben sandwich! He brines his own pastrami and smokes at the front of his food truck, this is not a food truck to miss! The rye bread was crisps to perfection and he didn’t skimp on the portions of pastrami! The fries were hot and the shake was cold! Must see if in Eugene, Oregon or if your passing through!

Amazing BBQ sandwiches!! We got a pulled chicken bap and a pulled pork bap and they were both delicious. Brilliant portion sizes and great value!! I couldn’t recommend this place more, the chef was so nice and made the experience even better - an absolute must visit in Eugene!

Delicious, thick, fruity and creamy mango milkshake. Partner- who only ever gets French toast for breakfast at restaurants- says the French toast is the softest she’s ever had and melts in your mouth. Easily one of her all time favorites. I just took a bite and it’s definitely peak French toast in my book holy cow. You can tell the Tie Died Chef puts his heart and soul into the food he makes. He was eager to describe some of the steps he takes to produce this quality. The French Toast is based on his mom’s old recipe from Louisiana which is super cool. Very friendly and fun to chat with. We’ll be back for sure. A lot, if I have anything to say about it.

Excellent food truck. Picnic table nearby. Nice potato salad and hot Ham and cheese. Kids options. 3 kinds of cheese used giving sandwich a good flavor. Enjoyed talking to the proprietor.
